Things to do in Phoenix
Desert Botanical Garden
It is a wonderful place for wildlife and desert plants which are blooming with their vibrant colors. The gardens amaze with their beauty and there is a lot to see. You can see special gardens designed to attract bees, hummingbirds, butterflies. The Desert Botanical Garden also features educational programms for children and adults. They simply promote greater enjoyment and understanding of the Sonoran Desert. The programs themselves include trips and certification classes, different kinds of workshops, hikes. Great for nature lovers. Highly recommanded.
St. Mary’s Basilica
This is by far the most beautiful Catholic church in the valley. Great atmosphere and wonderful service. The Franciscan Monks are at the church. The priests deliver beautiful messages with a lot of eloquence and clarity. The gardens and statuary was an extra treat to view. This is a place that gives refuge to those who seek it.
South Mountain Park Scenic Drive
South Mountain is a place of security and solitude. I don’t recommend going on high pollution days as you really can’t see that far in the valley. The views are spectacular and it’s quite unspoiled, despite all the visitors - hikers and mountain bikers. The desert is more alive than you can realize, you will meet here lots of hidden treasures if you are observant. There are animals like lizards, jackrabbits, cottontail rabbits, hummingbirds and javelinas, squirrels and chipmunks. South Mtn is the perfect place to go whether you want to go for an early afternoon hike or a scenic drive after dinner.
Arizona Science Center
Have an unique and amazing look inside your body at your muscles and organs. See multiple displays of hearts, stomachs, livers, and any other organs, both healthy or diseased. SOme people may consider it a bit too crowded and not for everyone (like small childern). Generally worth while experience.
Camelback Mountain
Can be compared to a highway, there is a constant line of people going up and down from early in the morning. Even if you are in pretty good shape there are some challeging places to visit. The sunsets here are exceptional and the people on the trail are helpful. As it may happen sometimes competitive as well. Tips: take your time, bring plenty of water, and talk to the people around you.
Doubletree Guest Suites Phoenix-Gateway Center
Doubletree Guest Suites Phoenix-Gateway Center Hotel is the award winning hotel placed 1.5 miles north of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. It takes only a couple of minutes from downtown Phoenix to get on the spot. Guests are welcome to newly renovated 2-room suites. The rooms contain 2 televisions, a microwave, refrigerator, wetbar, 2 speaker phones and a separate bedroom. High speed internet is also available but you have to pay for it. The housekeeping staff keep on refreshing the resort.
Heard Museum
Well organized museum, very educational and fun. The display of the Indian schools is also eye-opening. There is stuff for kids to do and crafts. Also, you are in a wheelchair, the museum is accessible topeople with this disability. You can spend a good day there and in there gardens too. The staff are very informative and the gift shop has some of the best Indian artist in the U.S. The craftsmanship is out of this world!
Castles-n-Coasters
The overall experience yuo can have at this place is good. Though, they charge you more than the site advertises and with the coupon it is still a little overpriced on a scale with other amusement parks. At first glance, this park lookes kind of small and cheesy. But once inside, what a surprise. There are many large fast rolercoasters that will keep you trembeling for a long time. Yet it has places where we could just relax and cool off.
